Ok…I’m sure you are probably wondering how I decided on this new chapter in my life which we will now call Freebird Fusion!
I can’t believe it has been this long already, but 10 years ago – I started another business called Fusion Fitness Studio. It was a private training studio where I taught Yoga, Pilates, Strength Training, Gyrotonic ™, and also did various forms of Massage Therapy.
Each session was tailored to the client and their specific needs, goals, restrictions, etc. It was essentially THEIR gym for the hour…that is the feeling I was trying to create for them, and I think I did it well. I was BUSY. I had a waiting list a month long when I first opened the doors. Not kidding.
That was really my first business. I was, and am still very proud of that accomplishment. I did it all on my own, designed it, set it up, ran it, and trained each client. I can’t say it was perfect, or that I didn’t make any mistakes…but hey – that’s where you learn the good stuff!
And learn, I did!! One of the first things I learned is that there is no way around having only 24 hours in a day. Everyone gets the same amount, and what you do with them is up to you. What is most important to you, you will ultimately make time for. But, it is so easy to get sucked into the unimportant mundane daily tasks, so it is key to prioritize! Put the things that are really important to you on your calendar! Schedule a workout time. Schedule time with friends. Have fun. Make it happen.
Ultimately after 3 spine surgeries, and a few other chronic health problems, I decided that using my body as my main vehicle for income was not going to work for very much longer. At the time I was running Fusion Fitness Studio I was also a commercial and print Fitness Model, which was really fun! I do really love teaching though, and there really is no comparison for the human connection… but it wasn’t working for me anymore physically…not as the “main event” anyway, so I wanted to be able to reach more people by using this platform, and sharing my knowledge on a bigger scale.
I like helping people. It makes me feel good. I am passionate about health and fitness, and want to share that with the world to whatever extent I can now…hopefully on a much bigger scale and with less assault on my own physical body! Let’s face it – you just can’t move other people’s bodies around forever! At least, I couldn’t!
So, let’s see where this new chapter goes! Anything is possible!
